Informative session with the NCTC, Indian Customs, Mumbai

NCTC

We are pleased to share that Nexshore recently had the remarkable opportunity to visit the esteemed Indian Customs Targeting Centre located in the bustling city of Mumbai, which is also recognized as the National Customs Targeting Centre, under the auspices of the Directorate of Revenue, a pivotal institution in the country.

The Centre is renowned as the premier task force in India, playing a crucial role in feeding revenue intelligence to an extensive network of over 567 ports across the nation. It is responsible for the meticulous analysis of more than 2 million declarations each day, a testament to its vast operational scale and significance. Their sophisticated systems operate in realtime, carefully analyzing all incoming data to target safety and security markers. This process is essential for unmasking malicious actors who may pose threats, preventing revenue evasion, and addressing goods duty misclassification, along with a variety of other secondary targets that require attention.

This visit provided us with the invaluable opportunity to appreciate and engage with the highly skilled professionals who work tirelessly at the Centre. It also allowed for in-depth discussions on the latest advancements in AI ✨ specifically tailored for customs targeting. Given the ever-growing volumes of data and declarations, the task at hand is undeniably challenging. It demands nothing less than unwavering dedication, a deep sense of honor, and an intrinsic drive to motivate these unsung heroes who work diligently behind the scenes. 👏

During my visit, we had the distinct honor of presenting Nexshore's transformative potential of AI in customs operations. After extolling the virtues of adopting the ONERecord data model standard, which is promoted by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and forms the foundation of our AI models, we delved into how Nexshore is pioneering this field. We are implementing advanced ARMA models, Neural Networks, and Deep Learning techniques to anonymize and predict organizational moves, profile, and improve targeting accuracy for markers.

The exchange of information and insights was profoundly inspiring, fostering a collaborative and informative environment where both sides shared their findings, making it a productive session for all involved. It is evident that by leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we can significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of customs targeting, resulting in more secure and streamlined processes. Nexshore looks forward to continued collaborations and innovations in this vital domain, as we strive to push the boundaries of what is possible in customs operations.
